SUSTAINABILITY

Eco-lux, consciously crafted.

As surfers and lovers of the water, protecting the places we feel most alive in is part of everything we do.

At Salty Bird, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s an ongoing commitment. We aim to reduce our impact while creating pieces that last, perform, and feel good to wear.

We believe in progress over perfection, and in being transparent about how and where our products are made — so you can feel confident in what you’re wearing.

What we stand for

Responsible materials
We prioritize high-quality regenerated and recycled fabrics, including ECONYL® regenerated nylon and other low-impact fibers.

Ethical production
All Salty Bird swimwear is produced in Bali, Indonesia, in a fair-wage factory with high standards for safety and working conditions — made possible through long-term, trusted relationships with our manufacturing team.

Limited production
We produce in small quantities to reduce overproduction and avoid unnecessary waste.

      ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon

Our fabric is made with ECONYL® — a premium regenerated nylon created from pre and post-consumer waste such as fishing nets, carpet flooring, and industrial plastic.

Through a regeneration process, this waste is transformed back into high-quality nylon, offering the same performance and feel as virgin materials — without the same environmental cost.

Durable, soft, and built for movement, ECONYL® is:
      – UPF 50+ protective
      – Chlorine resistant
      – Designed to last over time

By choosing regenerated nylon, we significantly reduce the environmental impact compared to conventional nylon production.

Our swimwear fabrics are typically composed of:
      78% ECONYL® regenerated polyamide, 22% Lycra

      Plant-Based Packaging

An estimated 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. It’s no secret that consumer packaging contributes significantly to that staggering number. That’s why Salty Bird partners with AVANI for all of our swimwear packaging, using compostable, biodegradable Bio-cassava bags as a plant-based alternative to petroleum-based plastic. Thanks to AVANI’s eco-friendly technology, Salty Bird packaging can be mixed with your compost and biodegrades in 60 to 90 days.
